Present your ideas with confidence so you can attract the RIGHT people to your project, convert cold leads into real funding options and tell the stories you were born to tell in a meaningful way.
What if I told you that your next film is just a perfect pitch deck away from being realized?

What if I told you that there is a clear, actionable way to up your creative engagement WITHOUT having to compromise the integrity of your ideas or suffer from the anxiety of “am I even doing this right …”?

...would you feel confident to show up for yourself daily and be excited to share your story with your dream partners?

I truly believe it's the things we're the most scared of that are worth doing the most and through this four day workshop you'll be equipped with the knowledge to build out your ideas with confidence so that others build confidence in your ideas too.

And it all starts with a killer Pitch Deck.
So why does crafting a killer Pitch Deck make so many of us break into a cold sweat?

You've got a great idea for a film.

You have a story you're passionate about and an idea you know will resonate on the screen.

You may have a treatment written, the whole script complete, or a short film that's had a successful festival run and you're encouraged to build it out into a feature.

You may have none of that, just simply a great idea you're geared up to get off the ground and now you're wondering what you need to convince an executive, a funding body, a financier or a producer to come on board to make your film dreams come true.

Tonnes of Google searches, endless research, pie in the sky conversations and loads of empty promises later you're still stuck with a great idea and no one to back it.

....at this point you may have put some sort of a pitch together, written a synopsis and are so cross-eyed from tweaking it here and there to make it perfect that you're ready to just hit erase-all.

Is your synopsis too long? Is all the right information executives want to see in there? You'll probably start wondering if you're missing something and feel so clueless as to what these guys are even looking for.

But you believe in your idea, you're passionate about it, you know it will make an amazing film and if you could just catch a break your career can finally take off. That's what happens to all the successful creatives in the film industry, right?

"Tania's Pitch Deck workshop was incredibly helpful. I thought I understood how to create a professional film pitch deck until I took her workshop. You will learn exactly how to make your project stand out. I feel much more confident going into pitch meetings now. Thank you, Tania and Hot Sauce!"

A PITCH DECK ISN'T AN ASK

What's Inside the Workshop
module 1.png
An Executive Introduction to a Pitch Deck
Ever wondered why you even need a pitch deck? Surely a banging script should be enough to win executives over, right?

On the first day of the Workshop we're digging in to why a Pitch Deck is THE tool you need to get the attention of executives. You'll discover why a story isn't enough and when the right time is to create a Pitch Deck for your project and why.

Next, we'll dive in to the essential story elements of a Pitch Deck, how to hone your voice and vision and the best way to present your cast and crew (even without any credits).
We'll finish the session off with an open question and answer period then break off into one on one sessions to start building your very own Pitch Deck.
Bring Your Ideas to Life Creatively
Now that you know how to position your story in a way that will effectively speak to executives and have developed the core story ingredients of a Pitch Deck, it's time to talk about how to support your ideas visually.

And I'm not just talking pictures here because pretty images in a PowerPoint presentation don't open up cheque books.

In this module we'll be digging in to how to visually position your project alongside the most promising ones in the market. You'll develop an understanding for the level of quality executives expect and discover the most effective visual techniques top producers and studios use in their Pitch Decks.
module 2.png
By the end you'll have the most clear understanding of how your visuals, and visual explanations, can turn your pitch deck into the thing every executive is looking for. A Q&A session will be followed by one on one coaching to give you hands on support for your visual prowress.

"Tania’s pitch deck seminar was incredibly valuable. I was completely floored by the caliber of the information, how it was delivered, how it was so well structured, and how I was able to synthesize the information of such an immense subject in a short period. Because of the materials Tania created for us, because of the way we worked, I think I couldn’t have asked for a better way to learn."

Time to Get Down to Business
It's probably one of the most common areas of a Pitch Deck I get asked about - how do you a build a business case for a film project? It's also the area executives look to most to validate the competency of a pitch.

Building out a business case for a film is easier than most people think and doing so does NOT have take the fun out of developing a film. Woo saw.

I'm going to walk you through the executive evaluation process and show you exactly how the pros do it at the studios, so you can focus more on creating and less time stressing about finding the right comps. You'll learn the simple steps to finding your audience and how to use numbers to leverage your creative ideas.
We'll finish the session off with an open question and answer period then break off into one on one sessions to add the finishing business touches to your Pitch Deck.
Use Your Pitch to Covert Prospects
What good is all of this strategy if it's not actually leading you towards more opportunities and scaling your career? It’s time to talk about the end game of the Pitch Deck and how to actually speak to executives to convert your prospects in to real opportunities.

A Pitch Deck? It's the introduction, but when you extend invitations for executives to connect with your material, you have to do it professionally, and properly, in order for them to actually listen.

I'll be sharing real life do's and don'ts of pitching - what not to do and what to do to make sure your project doesn't end up in the trash folder and fall against deaf ears.
module 4.png
You’ll also learn the perfect mix of storytelling and pitching, and how to pace your pitch according to the highest industry standards, so that your creative ideas aren't just heard, but vibrate to the beat of the executive drum. A mini lecture will be followed by a Q&A session, one on one coaching to help you hone your verbal pitch and culminate in a live pitching round.

BUT THERE'S A TWIST...

Every participant will be creating a Pitch Deck for a film that's already been made!

So much of Hot Sauce's ethos is making what we do accessible to everyone, so we structured The Pitch Deck Workshop in a way that allows participants to build broad context knowledge that can be applied to any type of project.

On Day 1 of the Workshop participants will be asked what their film choice is. It can be any feature length film, but here's some ideas to guide you on how to choose the film you'll work on:
  • Choose your favourite genre: most creatives have a particular genre of film they're most passionate about and interested in. Follow your heart and choose your favourite film, or one that resonates with your personal creative wheelhouse
  • Choose a genre based on your own project: if your creative genius falls towards the horror genre and you're developing a project in this realm then choosing a horror film that fits a similar style and tone to your project will make a great case study for your own tailored Pitch Deck down the road
  • Choose a film that's made but yet to be released: thanks to "you know what" there are plenty of films in the pipeline that are waiting to be released. Journey in to the executive mind of an unreleased film and build a Pitch Deck for a film ahead of its release to really give yourself a challenge
To make it extra fun, and really root the Workshop in a broad context, you won't be able to use any existing references, images or copy from the film you choose. That's right - it's all going to come from your own amazing, creative mind and I'm gonna help guide you through it.
YOUR FAVOURITE FILM DIDN'T FIND ITS AUDIENCE WITHOUT IT FIRST BEING PRESENTED IN A PITCH DECK.
By re-creating the world of a film that's already been made you'll discover what it really takes to position creative ideas properly through films which have already found their audience and, by doing so, you'll uncover the tried and true ingredients of a killer Pitch Deck.
